Pewsey Vale The Contours Riesling

The 2000 vintage in Eden Valley was a challenging one. Following a windy flowering period in Spring 1999, very low crops were set on Riesling vines. Then, before the grapes were ripe, significant rains fell creating an environment with the potential for disease and loss of crop and eventually quality. Fortunately, a combination of vigilant viticulturists and some warm drying weather, averted disaster and no Botrytis was detected at Pewsey Vale. This also served as a testament to the Pewsey Vale Vineyard, showing the strength and resilience of its Riesling vines and the resultant flavours and quality of its fruit, even in trying conditions.
