Prima Riesling

The 2016 Pewsey Vale Vineyard Prima Riesling exhibits the purity of style that we continue to see in all of the vintages we have made of this wine. Very pale in colour with green hues; the aroma has hints of the classic Pewsey Vale Vineyard Riesling characters, but is most redolent of white cherries and lychees. The palate shows great length and finesse, with a vibrancy of perfumed fruits such as guava and mandarin, overlaid with a touch of white cherry, sorbet and clove. The wine is succulent and mouth-watering and invites a second glass. This wine will cellar well, slowly developing flavour layers of fresh toast and spice.

Riesling

The 2017 Pewsey Vale Vineyard Riesling is a classic example of dry Eden Valley Riesling, showing the generous flavours we see so consistently each year from this amazing vineyard. Pale straw in colour with green hues. Intense aromas reminiscent of fine dried herbs, white flowers, lemon and lime. The palate shows great length and depth with grapefruit and lime, fresh rosemary, white pepper and a hint of tropical fruit. The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the flavour intensity, and a minerality that will reward medium to long-term cellaring.

Enjoy on its own, or with fresh oysters, seared scallops, Thai beef salad or salt and pepper squid.

Contours

Produced from old vines farmed on the coolest slope. Bottle ageing for five years before release transforms fresh lemon and floral aromatics into a complex wine of limes and brioche. Further richness and complexity will accumulate over future decades.

Pale straw in colour with green hues, there are intense classic lemon fruit aromas, with a hint of white flowers. Bottle aged characters of toast, clove oil and lemon grass have started to emerge. The palate shows great length and depth with concentrated power, pristine fresh lime juice overlaid with toasted brioche, sage oil and lemongrass. The wine finishes with fresh acidity, balancing the flavour intensity. This wine is released in 2017 after 5 years of bottle age, but will gracefully continue to age for many years for those who appreciate bottle aged Riesling.

Try with Foie Gras or duck breast with five spice glaze or fresh gnocchi with olive oil and shaved truffles.

1961 Block Riesling

The 2017 vintage marks the inaugural release of the Pewsey Vale Vineyard 1961 Block Riesling - a new interpretation of Riesling from this historic vineyard. The 1961 Block comes from the oldest vines at Pewsey Vale. Located in the centre of the amphitheatre on a gentle slope that faces due north and embraces the sun from its first to its last rays, this block is the dress circle of Pewsey Vale.

The contours that the vineyard is planted on form natural terraces that maximise the effectiveness of the precious rain when it falls and helps to stop any erosion of the ancient gravel soil. This wine is proof that a healthy biodiverse vineyard needs little winemaking intervention as the grapes and yeast from the vineyard combine perfectly to make this wine.
