Prima Riesling

The growing season for vintage 2015 started well. We had a lovely season break and the following above average winter rains filled the soils and dams. Spring was drier and warmer than average, meaning the vines enjoyed a very healthy start. During the second week of January good rains fell, which kept the vines healthy and grapes ripening. In short, the ripening conditions, flavours and natural acids were all perfect at Pewsey Vale this year.

Riesling

Delicacy, finesse and intense lemon and lime characters are the hallmarks of this well-balanced wine.

Pewsey Vale Vineyard Riesling 2016 is a classic example of dry Eden Valley Riesling, showing the flavours we consistently see each year from this amazing single vineyard. This wine shows intense aromas reminiscent of fine dried herbs, white flowers, lemon and lime fruit. There is great length and depth with limes, fresh rosemary, white pepper and a hint of tropical fruit . The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the flavour intensity and a minerality that will reward medium to long-term cellaring. Enjoy on its own, or with fresh oysters, seared scallops, Thai beef salad or salt and pepper squid.

Contours

Produced from old vines farmed on the coolest slope. Bottle ageing for five years before release transforms fresh lemon and floral aromatics into a complex wine of limes and brioche. Further richness and complexity will accumulate over future decades.

Pale straw in colour with green hues. Enticing aromas of freshly squeezed lemon with a hint of white flowers. Bottle aged characters of toast, clove oil and lemon grass have started to emerge. The palate shows great length and depth with concentrated power, pristine fresh lime juice overlaid with toasted brioche, sage oil and lemon grass. The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the favour intensity. Released in 2016 after 5 years of bottle age, this wine will gracefully continue to age for many years for those who appreciate bottle aged Riesling. Try with Foie Gras or duck breast with five spice glaze or fresh gnocchi with olive oil and shaved truffles.
